Police cooperation, European Parliament’s Committee on Civil Liberties excludes driving licences from automated data exchange

The members of the European Parliament’s Committee on Civil Liberties (LIBE) adopted on Tuesday 23 May, by 42 votes to 10 with one abstention, the report by Paulo Rangel (EPP, Portuguese) on the automated exchange of data in the framework of police cooperation, organised by the new ‘Prüm2’ regulation presented at the end of 2021.

The Council of the EU had adopted its mandate on 10 June 2022 (see EUROPE B12961A6, B12849A7) and had, among other things, added driving licence data...
