WTO rules in favour of EU in its dispute with New Delhi over tariffs on certain information and communication technologies

On Monday 17 April, a World Trade Organization (WTO) panel ruled in favour of the EU in a dispute with India. In 2019, the EU had initiated a dispute settlement procedure in Geneva against Indian tariffs of up to 20% on certain products in the information and communication technology sector.

It criticised New Delhi for imposing these tariffs, which are not in line with the WTO’s General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT), on products such as mobile phones, charging stations, static...
