The European Commission published on Monday 27 March a generally positive report on the quality of official controls in EU countries to check the welfare of laying hens.
This report presents the results of a project undertaken in 2021 that assessed official controls linked to the protection of the welfare of laying hens at all stages of production in the EU. Audits were carried out in nine Member States and questionnaires were sent to a further sixteen Member States.
