EU pledges half of €7 billion earthquake aid announced at international donors’ conference

In the face of the scale of the devastation and suffering caused by the 6 February earthquake and its aftershocks in Turkey and neighbouring Syria, the international community stepped up in Brussels on Monday 20 March. More than €7 billion was pledged for the victims in both countries and for early reconstruction in Turkey at the International Donors’ Conference for Victims, organised by the EU in coordination with the Turkish authorities in Brussels (see EUROPE B13139A4).
