Council of Europe denounces a “war” on journalism

In its 2022 report published on Tuesday 7 March, the Council of Europe’s ‘Platform to promote the protection of journalism and safety of journalists’ is critical of a continuous deterioration of press freedom since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, which goes hand in hand with a “war” against journalism.

The following were identified in 2022: 74 alerts about physical attacks on journalists (26% of the total 289 alerts), 41 alerts about detention and imprisonment of journalists...
