During the period 2022-2027, renewable energies should increase by nearly 2,400 GW, an acceleration of 85% compared to the previous 5 years, according to the International Energy Agency (IEA) in a new report published on Tuesday 6 December.
According to IEA forecasts, the share of renewables in the world’s electricity mix should increase by 10 percentage points to 38% in 2027. They would become the world’s leading source of electricity generation by early 2025, ahead of coal.
