The NGO Bloom sent a “warning” to the European Public Prosecutor’s Office on Monday 27 June, denouncing “massive fraud in public subsidies” for the benefit of Dutch industrial fishermen who were supposed to have stayed in port during the Covid-19 crisis.
“More than 95% of the Dutch vessels that received a Covid subsidy cheated to varying degrees and wrongly received €5.8 million between 15 May and 3 December 2020”, the association says.
