European Commission asks WhatsApp to clarify its privacy policy

The European Commission announced on Thursday 27 January, in conjunction with the network of national consumer authorities (CPC), that it is sending a letter to the instant messaging company WhatsApp to clarify changes to its terms of service and privacy policy in 2021.

This dialogue with WhatsApp follows an alert issued by the European Consumer Organisation (BEUC) (see EUROPE B12760A11). The European Commission wants to know how the company is complying with its obligations under EU...
