EU denounces life appointments of four Supreme Court judges

Brussels, 02/12/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday, 2 December, the spokesperson for the European External Action Service denounced the Georgian Parliament’s appointment of four Supreme Court judges for life-long terms. “Such appointments, made before the existing shortcomings in the nomination process were addressed, are not in line with the recommendations of the OSCE [...] and of the Council of Europe’s Venice Commission”, he lamented.
