EFSA to assess risk of spreading antimicrobial resistant zoonotic bacteria through animal transport

26/10/2021 (Agence Europe) – The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) is preparing a scientific opinion for September 2022 assessing the risk of spreading antimicrobial resistant bacteria during animal transport, EFSA announced on Monday 25 October. The assessment will focus on the risk of spreading zoonotic bacteria - which are transmissible to humans and can also compromise the effectiveness of antibiotics in humans - among poultry, pigs and cattle.
