The European Union delegation to Georgia, in coordination with Member States’ embassies in the country, called on Sunday 3 October for the shortcomings identified in the first round of local elections that were held the previous day to be addressed.
The ruling party, Georgian Dream, won 46.7% of the vote against 30.7% for the United National Movement, which was founded by former president Mikheil Saakashvili, who was arrested the day before he was due to return to the country.
