Divisions in ECOFIN Council over inclusion of nuclear in EU taxonomy resurface

On Tuesday 13 July, EU Finance Ministers held an initial exchange of views on the European Commission’s revised sustainable finance strategy (see EUROPE B12756A15) and the proposal for a voluntary European standard on ‘green’ bonds(see EUROPE B12756A14), put forward on 6 July. But it was the inclusion of nuclear power in the EU’s sustainable finance taxonomy (see EUROPE B12703A2) that dominated the debate.
