European Commission proposes to extend restrictions on access to EU waters for ten years

On Monday 5 July, the European Commission adopted a proposal (https://bit.ly/3dMs32F) to extend the restrictions on access to EU waters for ten years.

Article 5 of Regulation 1380/2013 on the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) establishes that Member States may, within their 12-nautical-mile zone (territorial waters), derogate from the general rule of equal access of EU fishing vessels to EU waters and resources.
