Renewable growth in 2020 at its fastest pace in 20 years, says IEA

11/05/2021 (Agence Europe) – Around 280 gigawatts (GW) of additional renewable energy capacity was installed globally in 2020, an increase of 45% compared to capacity additions during 2019, says a report by the International Energy Agency (IEA), published on 11 May. Pointing out that this is the largest increase in over 20 years, the IEA believes that this rate of growth is set to become the “new normal”.
