UN backs solidarity tax to reduce inequalities exacerbated by pandemic

Brussels, 13/04/2021 (Agence Europe) – The Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN), António Guterres, gave his support on Monday 12 April at the Economic and Social Council’s Forum on Financing for Development for countries to introduce a solidarity tax to reduce inequalities exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic. “I urge governments to consider a solidarity or wealth tax on those who have profited during the pandemic, to reduce extreme inequalities”, he said according to
