Revision of WhatsApp’s terms of use in Irish Data Protection Commission’s sights

04/03/2021 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission has referred Stéphane Séjourné (Renew Europe, France), who was concerned about WhatsApp’s compliance with data protection rules, to the Irish Data Protection Commission (DPC). In a reply published on 3 March, the Commission stresses that it does not have implementing powers to review WhatsApp’s new terms of use, including the sharing of certain data with Facebook, which will come into effect on 15 June. The Commission adds,...
