European Commission consults on revision of EU rules on buildings’ energy performance

On Monday, 22 February, the European Commission launched a public consultation on the revision of EU Directive 2010/31 on the energy performance of buildings (the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive or ‘EPBD’).

Scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2021, the revision is part of the EU’s ‘Renovation Wave’ strategy, which aims to at least double the annual rate of energy-efficient renovation of European buildings (see EUROPE B12581A10 and B12579A11), thus contributing to...
