Appointments to European Public Prosecutor’s Office, European Parliament criticises political interference from capitals

MEPs demanded explanations from the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the EU on Wednesday 20 January regarding the lack of transparency surrounding appointments to the European Public Prosecutor’s Office, particularly that of the Portuguese Prosecutor, José Guerra (see EUROPE B12634A11).

Ana Paula Zacarias, Portugal’s Secretary of State for European Affairs, refuted accusations that her government interfered with the appointment.
