European Parliament wants future EU-border asylum procedures not to prevent anyone from registering a claim

The European Parliament’s Committee on Civil Liberties (LIBE) wants future rules for asylum procedures at the European Union’s borders to consider the detention of applicants only as a last resort and to ensure that all those wishing to register a claim are able to do so as “violations of fundamental rights at the external borders” increase.
