MEPs will focus on the possibility of developing new avenues for legal migration to the EU, especially work-related ones, and will try to finalise a report on this in January.
This was the debate that the European Parliament's Committee on Civil Liberties (LIBE) held on Monday 7 December, when it considered the own-initiative report on ‘New Avenues for Legal Economic Migration’ by Sylvie Guillaume (S&D, France), who succeeded Miriam Dalli (S&D, Malta), gone to the Maltese Parliament.
