Ireland referred to court for failure to transpose rules on rights of suspects and prisoners

The European Commission has decided, Thursday 3 December, to bring an action before the Court of Justice of the European Union against Ireland for failure to transpose the Framework Decisions on mutual recognition concerning the rights of suspects and prisoners into its national law.

They are Framework Decision (2008/909/JHA), which aims to facilitate the social reintegration of convicted EU citizens by allowing them to serve their sentence in their home country, and Framework Decision...
