EU total allowable catch system on verge of imploding, according to report

According to a paper written by Lisa Borges, published on Tuesday 17 November and partly funded by the NGO Our Fish, the system of total allowable catches (TACs) and fishing quotas is on the verge of imploding. At issue is implementation of the Landing Obligation (ban on fish discards), which has increased fishing quotas by up to 50% in EU waters in 2020.
