European Parliament calls on Commission to address under-representation of women in EEAS before committing to gender equality abroad

Let’s put our own house in order: this is essentially what a majority of MEPs called for in a debate on gender equality in EU foreign policy on Thursday 22 October.

While the Commission intends to make gender equality a foreign policy priority - as the Commissioner for International Partnerships, Jutta Urpilainen, has hammered home - women remain almost absent from the decision-making bodies in this area.
