European Commission launches infringement proceedings against Cyprus and Malta over “golden passports”

After years of threatening, the European Commission is now taking action. As it had announced the day before (see EUROPE B12584A31), on Tuesday 20 October it launched infringement proceedings against Cyprus and Malta concerning their citizenship-by-investment programmes, known as “golden passports”.
