Progress, but also persistent shortcomings in gender equality in media sector, according to Council of Europe

“The mindset and culture in newsrooms” remain “issues that must be tackled in order for the media sector to contribute at its fullest to gender equality”, says an analytical report published on Friday 24 July by the Council of Europe’s Gender Equality Commission and the Steering Committee on Media and the Information Society.

The text indicates that progress has been made in terms of Member States’ legislation and highlights some good practices implemented at national level....
