64 MEPs call on Romanian president to oppose bill prohibiting discussion of gender identity in schools

On the initiative of the European Parliament’s LGBTI Intergroup, 64 MEPs sent a letter to Romanian President Klaus Iohannis on Wednesday, 24 June, asking him to reject a bill prohibiting any discussion of gender identity in the country’s schools and educational establishments.

This bill, which was approved by the Romanian Senate in mid-June, opposes activities aimed at spreading the “theory” that “gender is a concept different from biological sex and that gender and sex are not...
