EU Council calls for immediate peace negotiations
Brussels, 29/05/2020 (Agence Europe)

On Friday 29 May, the EU urged the Afghan government and all Afghan factions, including the Taliban, to start peace negotiations immediately (see EUROPE B12494A21).

In the conclusions it adopted alongside the meeting of EU foreign ministers at which the situation in Afghanistan was discussed, the EU Council considers that the Afghan government and factions must "without delay" actively engage in a genuine and inclusive peace process.
