Apostolos Tzitzikostas and Vasco Cordeiro elected President and Vice-President respectively

The members of the Committee of the Regions elected by acclamation at its inaugural plenary session on Wednesday, 12 February, Apostolos Tzitzikostas (EPP) of Greece and Vasco Cordeiro (PES) of Portugal as President and Vice-President for the next 5 years, rotating between their posts during their term of office in accordance with current practice. They take over from the two outgoing presidents, Markku Markkula (EPP, Finland) and Karl-Heinz Lambertz (PES, Belgium).
