Regeneration of particulate filters in new diesel cars causes extreme peaks of pollution according to T&E

A study published by the NGO T&E on Monday 13 January disproves the carmakers' argument that new models of Euro 6 d-temp diesel cars are clean. It presents laboratory test results based on new real-world driving tests for the Nissan Qashqai and Opel Astra.

The study shows that regular automatic cleaning (regeneration) of diesel particulate filters (DPFs) while driving - a technology that is mandatory for all new diesel cars starting from 2013 - causes pollution peaks every 480 km or so....
