High Commissioner for Refugees expects Member States to agree on a fair and sustainable asylum system

On Thursday 9 January, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) published recommendations for the year 2020 for the Member States and, in particular, the Croatian and then German Presidencies of the Council of the EU.

As the von der Leyen Commission announced a new Pact on Asylum and Migration for the spring, UNHCR is calling first and foremost for the EU to put in place an effective and sustainable European asylum system that guarantees access to EU...
