 Parliament Committee increases draft 2020 budget for climate protection by almost €2 billion

The European Parliament's Committee on Budgets decided on Tuesday 1 October to increase by almost €2 billion the expenditure initially planned in the 2020 budget, in order to strengthen climate programmes.

MEPs have earmarked a budget of €171.3 billion in commitments, €3 billion more than the European Commission's figures (€168.3 billion in commitments). The Committee on Budgets cancelled the reductions in appropriations decided by the EU Council and took advantage of the amounts...
