PACE wants to go further than EU directive in protection of whistleblowers

Whistleblowers represent a real democratic "marker" and must be protected, according to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), in a resolution adopted on Tuesday 1 October by an overwhelming majority of 128 votes to 18 abstentions.

This resolution - based on a report by the French Sylvain Waserman (Group of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe) - welcomes the directive adopted by the European legislator in April on the basis of a trilogue with the EU Council...
