The European Commission sent a reasoned opinion to Cyprus on Thursday 25 July to ensure that Nicosia complies with the rules of the Trade Secrets Directive (Directive 2016/943).
The Directive, which was painfully adopted in 2016 and which precipitated the drafting of the Whistleblowers Directive(see EUROPE B11478A6), aims to harmonise the legal protection of trade secrets throughout the territory of the European Union, as well as sanctions.
