Seasonally adjusted deficit rising and public debt falling in euro area in fourth quarter of 2018

The seasonally adjusted government deficit rose by 0.5 percentage points between the third and fourth quarters of 2018 in the euro area, while the government debt ratio fell by 1.3 percentage points over the same period, according to figures published by the Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat) on Wednesday 24 April.
