22/03/2019 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 22 March, the European Council formally appointed the current Governor of the Irish Central Bank, Philip Lane, as a member of the Executive Board of the European Central Bank (ECB). He will succeed Peter Praet, member of the Executive Board and Chief Economist of the ECB, whose term of office is due to end on 31 May. The only candidate, Mr Lane, received the support of the Eurogroup and the Ecofin Council last month (see EUROPE B12191A18). (LT)
