European Parliament advocates targeted sanctions against Nicaraguan government

14/03/2019 (Agence Europe) – MEPs believe that "targeted and individual sanctions, such as visa bans and asset freezes" against Nicaraguan government officials are necessary as long as human rights continue to be violated in Nicaragua (see EUROPE B12176A7). In a resolution adopted on Thursday 14 March by a large majority, they also propose to activate the human rights clause, which would suspend the application in the country of the EU/Central America Cooperation and Association...
