On the evening of Tuesday 15 January, an EU spokesperson informed EUROPE of the European Union’s concerns about the alleged persecution and killing of members of the LGBTI community in Chechnya (see EUROPE 12172). Two members of the LGBTI community were reportedly killed and some thirty others arrested based on their sexual orientation.
