The European Commission adopted on Wednesday 16 January a decision on the financing of humanitarian assistance in 2019, with a record budget of €1.6 billion.
“From long-lasting conflicts in the Middle East and Africa to the growing impact of climate change worldwide, humanitarian crises are worsening and conflicts threaten aid delivery to the those most in need”, stated the Commission to justify the increase in humanitarian aid funds in the 2019 EU budget.
