Trigger on 16 January of safeguard clause on rice

11/01/2019 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission is expected to adopt on Wednesday 16 January the decision on the triggering of the ‘safeguard clause’ restoring customs duties on Indica rice from Cambodia and Burma (see EUROPE 12154), announced the Italian trade union Coldiretti. The proposal aims to impose, from mid-January 2019, a duty of 175 euros/tonne in 2019 on imports of Cambodian and Burmese rice that are currently duty-free, gradually reduced to 150 €/t in 2020 and 125...
