EU commits €134 million to combat instability and the causes of irregular migration

Eleven new programmes to tackle the root causes of irregular migration from the Horn of Africa to Europe and forced displacement in the region will be financed for a total of €134.4 million by the EU Emergency Trust Fund for Africa, the European Commission announced on Friday 14 December. 

€65 million will go to six programmes to support UNHCR's Global Framework for Action for Refugees and €5 million to optimise the use of financial investigation and anti-money laundering tools to...
