Opening of in-depth investigation into Aperam's proposed acquisition of VDM

30/11/2018 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission opened an in-depth investigation on Thursday 29 November to determine whether or not Aperam 's proposed acquisition of VDM complies with EU merger law. The two companies are the two leading nickel alloy producers in Europe. The Commission is concerned that the operation may reduce competition for nickel alloy plates, sheets and strips and therefore lead to higher prices for consumers.
