Austria wants to continue controls on its borders with Hungary and Slovenia until May 2019

11/10/2018 (Agence Europe) – Under the Schengen Borders Code (Article 25), the Austrian authorities notified the European Commission on Thursday 11 October of their plan to extend for six months, until 12 May 2019, border controls between their country and Hungary and Slovenia, two borders within the Schengen Area of free movement of people.  Reintroduced periodically, notably to combat secondary movements of migrants within the EU, these measures expire on Sunday 11 November.
