On Thursday 6 September, the European Commission expressed concern at the growing number of cases of African swine fever in Romania.
Developments on the ground are of concern to us, with many cases in pig farms and in wild boar near to the border with Ukraine and Moldova, a Commission spokesperson said.
Since the summer, there has been a record number of cases of African swine fever in Romania, with the epidemic having also hit parts of Lithuania, Latvia and Poland.
