European Parliament-Council agreement in sight on mutual recognition of decisions to freeze criminal assets

The inter-institutional negotiations on the draft regulation foreseeing a mutual recognition mechanism for decisions to freeze or confiscate criminal assets by the member states might be concluded in the next trialogue session (see EUROPE 11694). 

The EU co-legislative institutions are reported to have agreed on the rapidity of procedures.  The EU wants the timing for implementation of the member states of decisions to freeze or confiscate assets to be 20 rather than 60 days and...
