Geographical indications, European Committee of Regions welcomes new tasks entrusted to EUIPO

02/12/2022 (Agence Europe) – In adopting its Opinion on the geographical indications proposal at the plenary session on Thursday 1 December, the European Committee of the Regions (CoR) welcomed the plan to delegate part of the investigation of GI files to the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). According to the CoR, the EUIPO has powerful tools that can be used by GI producers to simplify registration procedures, improve GI control and combat fraud (see EUROPE B13060A15)....
