No decision expected in EU Council on 6 December on Hungary’s recovery plan and ‘Rule of law conditionality’ procedure concerning it

EU Finance Ministers will exchange views in Brussels on Tuesday 6 December on the proposal to suspend €7.5 billion in EU cohesion funds for Hungary on the grounds that the country does not respect the principles of the Rule of law. They will also discuss Hungary’s €5.8 billion post-Covid-19 recovery plan.

But no decision should be taken on these two issues (see EUROPE B13074A1). This was the outcome of discussions held on Thursday 1 December by the Member States’ ambassadors...
